Synopsis
Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud turn their gaze to the marine world. Four years of production, dozens of expeditions and new technologies allowed the camera to swim with dolphins, whales, sharks, manta rays, jellyfish and countless other creatures as though it belonged in that environment. Rather than cataloguing species, the film seeks to convey the physical sensation of moving through water, transforming the oceans into an immense cinematic spectacle. Wonder gradually gives way to an indictment of indiscriminate fishing practices, pollution and the interference of humans upon ecosystems. A spectacular nature documentary that avoids academic didacticism and instead uses the power of images to remind us just how rich (and imperilled) the macrocosm that covers most of our planet is.
