Blerta Basholli

A Kosovar writer and director, Blerta Basholli studied film and philosophy at the University of Pristina, then attended the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. In 2011, she returned to Kosovo, where she wrote and directed several short films. Her work has so far tackled women’s issues and social problems in the country where she was born and raised, taking a realistic approach. Hive, her first feature film, won the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award and Best Director Award at the Sundance Film Festival, in the World Cinema Dramatic section.
