Synopsis
Three different couples who do not know each other share something in common: the cage they have built around their lives – for fear of whatever might be waiting out there – and the dense web that has corralled their feelings within a placid and reassuring perimeter. Until an unexpected event involves them all, forcing them to put their hearts and souls back in order, to reconsider their existence and let go of everything that might be in excess.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
The Sound of Something New is born from one simple question: how well do we actually know the ones we love? I wanted to explore that fragile territory where curiosity becomes a need to know, and the truth, instead of freeing us, can forever change how we look at those closest to us. I tried to do this by following lives that brush against and influence one another, without passing judgement, allowing pain, irony and contradictions to coexist. The direction stays close to the characters, their silences and the small cracks in their everyday lives, because often what makes the most noise are the things we do not say. And the new things, when they arrive, do not ask for permission: they disrupt an equilibrium, but perhaps they finally force us to take a hard, close look at ourselves.
