Synopsis
A football legend, icon of the Celtic Glasgow and Liverpool during its golden years, where he was first a player then a coach in the period following the Heysel tragedy, Kenny Dalglish tells his story on and off the pitch.
COMMENTARY
The viewer is granted the privilege of discovering the life – rather than the achievements – of one of the legends of British football, who divided his career between Celtic Glasgow and Liverpool, the natural heir to Kevin Keegan, marked by two great sports tragedies: Heysel (1985) and Hillsborough (1989). The film brings to light an exact description of the context (in particular Thatcher’s England), while the ample archival footage is woven into an unstoppable narrative flow.
DIRECTOR' STATEMENT
Not a “film about football”, this is the celebration of a man, a family, a team, a city, a sport and those who love it, of the people who have made football what it is today, followed and beloved by millions of people. Kenny occupies a place of honour among these founding fathers.
